Activision Blizzard suspends BlizzCon planning

Today publisher Activision Blizzard announced that it will not host its BlizzConline event, which was previously scheduled for next year.

The company said that it would like to "take the time to reimagine what a BlizzCon event of the future could look like."

While the post makes no direct reference to recent lawsuits alleging workplace discrimination at Activision Blizzard including instances at BlizzCon, the publisher expressed a commitment to inclusivity going forward.

"Whatever the event looks like in the future, we also need to ensure that it feels as safe, welcoming, and inclusive as possible. Were committed to continual communication with our players, and we see BlizzCon playing a big role in that going forward," the company said.

Despite the online showcase being cancelled Activision Blizzard did note it will still provide new information for its titles.

"One more thing we wanted to make clear: even though we arent holding BlizzConline in February, well still be making announcements and updates for our games."

As of yesterday, the Los Angeles Country Court denied Activision Blizzards request to pause the DFEHs lawsuit follow accusations of possible ethic violations.

Last week, Activision Blizzard said 20 employees "exited the company" in relation to resolved reports of misconduct.
