Hutch agrees to six-month four-day work week trial

Mobile developer Hutch is the latest games company to test a four-day working week model.

The company will adopt the shortened week for the next six months to test the waters, as reported by The Guardian.

Hutch CEO and co-founder Shaun Rutland said that he started the company with a "no crunch" culture that embraced a mixture of in-office and remote working.

He hopes that the switch to four-day weeks will produce a "more sustainable working environment," as well as improvements to the general productivity and health of employees.

Earlier this month, indie publisher Armor Games shifted permanently to a four-day week after an extended trial period, which showed that productivity was the same or better than the standard five days.

Last year, Bugsnax maker Young Horses also reduced its work week to four days, as did Eidos studios in both Montreal and Sherbrooke.
